THE REAL CAUSE OF KIDNEY STONES MAY SURPRISE YOU

How do falsehoods eventually become accepted as truths…?

Repetition.

We have been told over and over again that oxalates in foods cause kidney stones.  I’m here to tell you—they don’t!

Am I really taking a stand against this medically accepted myth?  You bet I am.

Let’s sort this out and get our facts straight.

First of all, what are oxalates?  They are plant-based foods that contain a naturally occurring chemical called oxalic acid.

Now get this.  These oxalate foods are some of nature’s most healing and powerful superfoods…!

  • Spinach
  • Kale
  • Parsley
  • Strawberries
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Peaches
  • Nectarines
  • Swiss chard
  • White potatoes
  • Lentils
  • Oranges
  • Plums
  • Rhubarb
  • Beets

And this is the short list.

All of these plant-based oxalate foods contain oxalic acid that has been accused of being the villain in a number of disease states.

Here are a few of the myths…

  • Oxalates cause kidney stones and gall stones
  • Oxalates cause pain and inflammation
  • Oxalates bind to minerals so you can’t assimilate and utilize them
  • Oxalates cause gout

In order to understand these big fat lies, we must gain knowledge of the truth.  Let’s start by taking a close look at what actually does cause a kidney stone.

When you consume a diet that is high in animal products, you are also consuming a high amount of fats.  Never mind that you eat “lean” cuts because those, too, are high in fat.

There is no disputing that these flesh foods are also very acidic in the body when consumed, and when the pH of the body is highly acidic, disease thrives.

The reversal of chronic disease requires alkalizing the body.  How do we do that?  Simple.  We eat alkaline foods and avoid acidic foods.

At one end of the pH spectrum, we have acidity caused by the consumption of animal products and fats.  These are the most acidic foods we can eat.

At the other end of the pH spectrum, we have alkalinity created by the consumption of plant-based foods.  You see, fruits and vegetables are the most alkaline foods out there.

In other words, if you consume a lot of animal products and fats like meats, chicken, seafood, milk, cheese, butter, eventually you will develop a highly acidic state in your body that welcomes disease.

All these fatty foods also lead to congestion in the liver, and the kidneys will eventually become overburdened as well from all of the accumulated gunk.

When this highly acidic and fatty condition exists in your body, calcium is leached out of your bones as a result of an existing high phosphorus level.

Where does all the phosphorus come from…?  Consumption high fat, high phosphorus foods–meats, chicken, seafood, milk, cheese, butter.

An excessive level of phosphorus in the body draws calcium from the bones.  The end result—osteopenia or loss of bone density.

But wait, you say…  I’m vegan!  I’m vegetarian!  I’m sorry to report that you, too, can create this same calcium-leaching state by consuming too many high fat, high phosphorus foods—nuts, seeds, eggs, cheeses, avocados, etc.  You probably won’t be as acidic as the flesh eater but you will also tip the pH scale in the acidic direction with these non-flesh but moderately-acidic foods.

Here is the ultimate ringer in this mess.  All this calcium from phosphorus bone leaching interacts with uric acid in your kidneys.  Uh oh…

Excessive phosphorus + leached calcium + uric acid = creation of kidney stones

So here is my point…  This process that creates kidney stones has absolutely nothing to do with oxalates!

Now who could possibly be behind the continual slandering of nature’s most nutrient-dense and powerful plant-based superfoods that has become accepted as truth from repetition?  Hmm…  Could it be the wealthy industries with a vested interest in the consumption of their highly acidic animal products?  Just sayin’.

Not only that, this same process of high fat consumption of these acidic animal-based foods can lead to the creation of fatty gall stones.  And gout!

Ok, I hear some of you saying, “Never mind stones.  Oxalates cause me to have pain and inflammation!

Let’s also blow this misconception out of the water once and for all.

These potent oxalate foods are packed with powerful nutrients like antioxidants and flavonoids.  They are also very high in an amino acid called lysine.

Of particular interest, especially in these pandemic times, is that these nutrients are antiviral in nature.  That means they go on a search-and-destroy mission to take out virus residing in your body.

When you consume these plant-based oxalate foods that are potent antivirals, a war is launched.  This war is between your immune system and virus.

Now let’s say a particular virus has taken up residency in your joints or your nerve endings or your muscles.  When your immune system attacks this bad bug, the resulting battleground can lead to pain and inflammation in the residing area while these bugs are being destroyed.

This is not a bad thing!  You want your natural defense to be strong and to do its job of protecting and defending you!

The result of this war against the bugs is die off.  This is where the antioxidants come in.  They are the pacman gobblers who consume toxins and waste debris.  They are the clean-up crew, so we want to consume plenty of foods that are high in antioxidants—like oxalates!

This healthy process that occurs in your body when you consume foods rich in oxalic acid is your body’s way of cleansing and detoxifying naturally. 

Without these oxalate foods, bugs are unopposed and thrive, and toxins accumulate.  This leads to further breakdown and disease progression.

Lastly, let’s clear up the myth that oxalates bind to minerals in your body and render them unusable, and that this binding creates kidney stones.  Poppycock!

Once minerals in the soil pass through a plant’s root system, they become totally bioavailable to the body, unaffected by oxalic acids that are part of the composition of the plant’s structure along with the minerals.

However, what oxalates actually do is bind onto toxic heavy metals that have found a way into your body via pollution, pesticides, chemicals, etc.  Heavy metals like mercury, lead, uranium, arsenic, cadmium, and aluminum which are nasty, damaging toxins that you do not want in your body.

Oxalates grab onto and carry these heavy metals right out of your body.  That is, provided your drainage system is flushing properly.

This powerful detoxifying action can create temporary detox symptoms while you are clearing these toxins from your system.  This is a good thing and part of the natural cleansing process as a result of eating lots of healthy oxalate foods.

You see, these masterfully-created foods which nature has given us are our tools for healing.  They are perfectly designed to perform functions in our bodies that we need to stay healthy and strong.
