At any time, one of the 3 pillars to health restoration is in a dominant state in your body at any time. Problem is, for most people, one of these states is typically overworked due to improper lifestyle habits.
These bad habits cause natural daily cycles in the body to be blocked. Without lifestyle cooperation, health restoration will be elusive.
Have you ever felt like you were making progress in your wellness journey, only to experience a relapse? Sometimes this can happen over and over again, making it seem like no matter what you try, you just can’t seem to get ahead.
Maybe it is time to learn about the daily cycles of these 3 pillars to good health! With cooperation on your part, you can see progress that will come and stay, instead of continually fleeting away and resetting you back to square one.
Here are the 3 pillars to health restoration:
- Digestion
- Regeneration
- Detoxification
In a healthy body, each of these 3 cycles will be in a dominant mode for a period of time every single day. In an unhealthy body, one primary culprit will dominate the other two, sometimes for the entire 24 hour cycle.
That culprit is digestion.
You see, in a sick body, digestion is malfunctioning. If this system is not functioning properly, you will experience uncomfortable symptoms, plus, you will not absorb necessary nutrition properly.
There are many things that can go wrong with digestion…
- Insufficient enzymes
- Insufficient hcl
- Poor bile production
- Inflammation
- Biofilm in the gut
- Liver and gallbladder congestion
- Parasites
- Fungal overgrowth
- Bacterial superstrains
- Constipation
And the list goes on…
While these issues must be addressed, lifestyle habits must be corrected in order to allow healing time for the digestive tract.
You heard right. The digestive tract needs a period of rest every single day.
Unfortunately, most do not behave in a way that will allow this. Most simply eat however they want, whenever they want, and expect the digestive system to do its job while never giving it down time to heal.
Just as your body needs sleep every day, and a time to heal, so do each of your organs and systems. BUT, this requires your cooperation and an understanding of the circadian body clock (see blog post on the body clock for more details).
In short, the organs of digestion are in maximum function from 7am until mid afternoon. Then, they begin to wind down and go into rest mode.
This means, if you eat later than this, it must be very simple to digest, like soup, a small salad, or a fruit smoothie. In other words, no big hunks of hard-to-digest meats or late dinners.
This is where the resistance starts to come up. What??!! No late dinners with a big fat steak? Not if you want to heal your digestive tract and restore your health. You can have your steak at lunchtime, however, when your organs of digestion are in maximum function and capable of breaking down this most difficult food while you are active during the day.
Eating big, late meals is one of the top offending lifestyle habits. During the evening, the digestive organs are in rest mode. Forcing organs back to work to break down a heavy, difficult-to-digest meal means the food will stay in your stomach all night long.
So…?
- Tired organs of digestion will be forced to work when they should rest
- Your late meal will putrify in your gut
- Gases like methane and ammonia will be produced as a result
- Digestion will remain the dominant cycle
- Regeneration and detoxification will not occur as a result
You see, only one cycle can be in dominant mode at a time. If you cooperate with an early, light dinner (no later than 6), your stomach will have time to empty before you lie down to sleep, and you will naturally enter the next pillar of health restoration–regeneration.
But there’s a catch. You must be in bed asleep by 10 pm for the next 4 hours of regeneration to occur.
I can hear the rebellious screeching of the night owls.
Don’t shoot the messenger. I didn’t make the rules, I’m just teaching you about them. They are fixed. If you cooperate, your digestive system will naturally go into a night of rest, and you will receive 4 hours of regeneration and healing.
And, here is a very important concept to fully comprehend–you heal when you sleep. When you are up and active and running around all day, your energy is consumed with activity and digestion. When you are asleep and in the regeneration cycle, that’s when you heal.
If you stay up til midnight thinking you will catch the last couple of hours, sorry, it doesn’t work that way. You aborted the regeneration cycle when you stayed up past 10. No regeneration for you in that 24 hours. Better luck tomorrow.
Now, if you have cooperated thus far, eaten during the daytime when your digestive organs are in maximum function, eased off eating much after mid afternoon with an early, light dinner, gone to bed and are asleep by 10 regenerating, you will naturally go into high gear detoxification mode in the wee hours.
The liver starts gearing up for maximum detoxing while you are fast asleep. All night, the liver will filter your blood and remove impurities IF you have gone into your natural regeneration cycle first.
This is the natural flow of the 3 pillars and probably the most important thing you can do to support your body’s healing from chronic disease.
After 30+ years of helping people like you restore their health, I can tell you that those who change their ways and cooperate with the body clock are the ones who have big successes in healing chronic problems.
Those who refuse to eat during the day when digestion is in high gear, keep eating late dinners, staying up late… Well… these are the ones who experience very little progress. Two steps forward, three steps back.
It is as frustrating for me as it is for the one wanting to get well. But the simple truth is, the body clock demands cooperation or your health pays the price.
Cooperate with the body clock, and things begin to turn around. Resist and have no one to blame but yourself.
I see you reaching for your shoe. Excuse me while I duck.
